Mechanics Tax Rebate Example

The vast majority of employed mechanics have to buy tools and equipment to enable them to work. If you are one of them you should be eligible to claim back a mechanics tax rebate.

Mr Peters was introduced to us by his snap on tool provider. As a mechanic he has been buying tools and equipment since he started as an apprentice over 10 years ago.

After a short phone call we confirmed with Mr Peters that he had to buy all his tools himself, and has never been reimbursed by his employer. At this point all we needed was three simple forms signed and returned, along with his snap on tool activity list showing all his purchases from the day he started work.

In addition a claim was made for the laundering of his protective clothing which is worth £60 per tax year.

A claim was made and within 5 weeks Mr Peters received a mechanics tax rebate of over £1000, which will go to help buy his next tool box!

“Can’t believe I could claim this amount of tax back. Brilliant!”
Mr Peters, Mechanic, Manchester, received a £1042 mechanics tax refund

Mr Peters was unaware of what he could claim back and will be able to make a claim in the future for any additional purchases he makes.
