Website Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 25 August 2026

Please read these terms carefully before using our website. They apply every time you use it.

1. Who we are

This website, www.taxrebateservices.co.uk, is operated by WWW.TAXREBATESERVICES.CO.UK LIMITED, trading as Tax Rebate Services.

  • Company number: 05079178, registered in England and Wales
  • Registered office: Pacific House Business Centre, Fletcher Way, Parkhouse, Carlisle, England, CA3 0LJ
  • VAT number: 889 3389 48
  • Email: support@taxrebateservices.co.uk

In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean WWW.TAXREBATESERVICES.CO.UK LIMITED. “You” and “your” mean the person using this website.

By using this website you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

2. What this website is, and what it is not

We are an independent publisher of free tax information. We produce guides, calculators, news and reference material to help UK taxpayers understand the tax system.

To be clear about what we are not:

  • We are not HMRC. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of HMRC or any other part of government. For official guidance, go to GOV.UK.
  • We are not accountants, tax advisers or financial advisers. We are not regulated by the FCA or by any professional accountancy body.
  • Using this website does not make you our client. It creates no professional relationship and no duty of care in relation to your personal tax position.

3. Our content is general information, not advice

Everything on this website is general information. It is not tax, financial, legal or investment advice, and it is not a recommendation to take or avoid any particular course of action.

Tax rules change frequently, and how they apply depends on your individual circumstances. Content that was accurate when written may not be accurate when you read it. We make every effort to keep our tax guides current and to correct errors when we find them, but we cannot guarantee that anything here is complete, accurate, useful or up to date at the moment you read it.

Before acting on anything you read here, and particularly on anything involving a claim to HMRC, a change to your tax code, or a tax return, please check the current position at GOV.UK, contact HMRC, or speak to a qualified professional.

4. Calculators

Our calculators produce rough estimates based on the figures you enter and on general assumptions about how the rules apply. They are illustrative tools.

They are not a calculation of what HMRC owes you, an assessment of your eligibility, or any guarantee that a claim will succeed. The amount HMRC actually pays, if anything, may be very different. Rates, allowances and thresholds change, and a calculator may not reflect the most recent position.

Using a calculator does not begin a claim, does not notify HMRC of anything, and does not create any relationship between you and us.

5. We are not a repayment agent

We publish information. We do not act for you in any dealings with HMRC.

  • We are not a tax repayment agent or claims company, and we are not registered with HMRC as an agent.
  • We do not submit claims, forms or tax returns to HMRC on anyone’s behalf.
  • We do not receive tax repayments from HMRC, and we never take a percentage or fee out of any refund you receive.
  • We will never ask you to sign an assignment, nomination or deed transferring a repayment to us, and we will never ask you for your National Insurance number, income figures or bank details. Treat any request of that kind made in our name as fraudulent and report it to support@taxrebateservices.co.uk.

Any refund you claim using information from this site is claimed by you, directly, and paid by HMRC to you. HMRC offers free help by phone, webchat and post, and your Personal Tax Account on GOV.UK lets you check your tax code and claim certain refunds without going through anyone at all.

If you choose to use a paid repayment agent or accountant, that is a matter between you and them, and their terms, including their fee, will apply.

6. Advertising, commission and commercial relationships

We provide our guides and calculators free of charge. There is no paywall, no sign-up and no premium tier, and we intend to keep it that way. The site is funded through advertising and commercial arrangements, and we want to be straightforward about how that works.

Display advertising. Advertising on this site is served through Google AdSense. We do not choose the individual adverts you see, and an advert appearing here is not an endorsement. Advertisers have no control over, and no advance sight of, our editorial content.

Commission and affiliate links. Some links on this website are commission-based, including links in our Find an Accountant directory and our accounting software comparison pages. If you click one and go on to buy a product, subscribe to a service or engage a firm, we may receive a commission or referral fee from that third party.

  • It costs you nothing extra. Commission is paid by the provider out of their own margin.
  • We label it. Where a link or listing is commission-based or paid for, we identify it at the point where you see it, not only here.
  • Not every link earns us money. Links to GOV.UK, professional bodies, charities and other reference sources earn us nothing.

Sponsored content. Where an article or placement has been paid for, it is clearly labelled as sponsored at the top of the page. Sponsored content is not editorial content and does not carry our editorial review.

Directory and comparison listings. Inclusion in our Find an Accountant directory or our software comparison pages is not an endorsement, recommendation or accreditation, and it does not mean we have checked the firm or provider.

We are not a regulator. We do not verify qualifications, professional body membership, professional indemnity insurance, regulatory status or ongoing competence, and we do not monitor firms after they are listed. Before you engage anyone, please check them against the relevant professional register. The ATT, CIOT, ICAEW, ACCA and AAT each maintain a register of their members. Please also satisfy yourself about their insurance and standing.

Any contract you enter into with an accountant, adviser or software provider is between you and them. We are not a party to it and have no role in the service they provide.

Editorial independence. Commercial arrangements do not determine what we cover or the position we take in our guides. That said, whether a provider appears on this site at all may reflect a commercial arrangement, so please treat our listings as a starting point for your own research rather than as comprehensive independent market research.

7. Using our website

You may use this website for your own personal, non-commercial purposes, including printing and downloading extracts for your own use.

You must not use this website:

  • in any way that breaches any applicable law or regulation;
  • to introduce any virus, malware or other technically harmful material;
  • to attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, the server on which it is stored, or any connected server, computer or database;
  • to submit false, misleading or abusive content through any contact form.

We may withdraw your right to use this website if you breach this section.

8. Intellectual property, scraping and AI training

The content of this website, including text, guides, articles, calculators, layout, design, graphics, logos and code, is owned by us or licensed to us, and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights. Trademarks appearing on this site which are not ours are acknowledged as belonging to their respective owners.

You may not, without our prior written permission:

  • alter, translate, redistribute, upload, sell, publish or otherwise commercially exploit any part of this website;
  • systematically extract, scrape, crawl or copy any part of this website, by automated or manual means, in order to build or populate another database, service or publication;
  • use any part of this website for text and data mining, or for training, fine-tuning, evaluating or developing artificial intelligence or machine learning systems, including large language models.

We expressly reserve all rights in relation to text and data mining and AI training. No licence for those activities is granted by your access to this website, and nothing on this site should be treated as consent to them.

9. Linking to our website

You may link to our pages, provided you do so in a way that is fair and legal, does not damage our reputation or take advantage of it, and does not suggest an association or endorsement that does not exist.

You may not frame our content on another site or present it as your own. We reserve the right to withdraw linking permission if a link breaches these conditions.

10. Third-party websites

We link to third-party websites for information. We have no control over their content, their privacy practices or the services they provide, and we accept no responsibility for them or for any loss arising from your use of them.

Any dealings you have with an organisation you reach through a link from this site are between you and them. We recommend reading their terms and privacy policy before giving them any information.

11. Availability of the website

We do not guarantee that this website, or any content on it, will always be available or uninterrupted. We may suspend, withdraw, discontinue or change all or any part of it without notice, and we are not liable for temporary unavailability caused by technical issues beyond our control.

12. Viruses and security

We take reasonable steps to check our content, but we cannot guarantee that this website or anything downloadable from it is free from viruses or other harmful code. You are responsible for configuring your own technology and using your own virus protection.

13. Our liability to you

We provide everything on this website free of charge and without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant that it is accurate, complete, current or fit for any particular purpose, and any use you make of it is at your own discretion.

We are not liable for loss arising from reliance on our content. This includes tax you overpay or fail to reclaim, refunds you do not receive, penalties or interest charged by HMRC, deadlines you miss, and decisions you take about your tax affairs or your business.

This applies equally to our money guides and calculators. Our money section covers budgeting, borrowing, mortgages, savings, credit cards, energy costs and similar subjects. It is general information, not financial advice, and we are not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. We are not liable for any loss arising from decisions you take about borrowing, saving, switching provider, or any other financial matter after reading it. Where a decision matters, please take advice from a suitably qualified and regulated adviser.

We are not liable for the acts or omissions of third parties, including accountants, advisers, software providers, advertisers, lenders or any other organisation linked to or listed on this site.

We are also not liable for any loss of profits, income, business, savings or opportunity.

If you are a consumer, nothing in this section affects your statutory rights. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

14. Privacy and cookies

Our handling of personal data is set out in our Privacy Policy. Our use of cookies and similar technologies, including the full list of what is set and by whom, is set out in our Cookie Policy. Please read both.

15. Changes to these terms

We may modify or replace these terms at any time. The version published here when you use the site is the version that applies, and the date at the top shows when it was last changed.

If you do not agree to the revised terms, please stop using the website.

16. Third-party rights

A person who is not a party to these terms has no right under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 to enforce any of them.

17. If part of these terms is unenforceable

If any provision of these terms is found by a court to be unlawful or unenforceable, that provision will be treated as removed and the remaining provisions will continue in full force.

18. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or your use of this website (including non-contractual disputes or claims), are governed by and interpreted in accordance with the law of England and Wales.

The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction over any such dispute or claim.

Nothing in this section affects your rights as a consumer. If you are a consumer resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may bring proceedings in the courts of the country in which you live, and you keep the benefit of the consumer protection rules that apply there.
