This lovely little extra is from the Money Advice Service and enables you to work out the answer to one of two questions:

Know how much you want to save, but not sure how long it will take?

Know when you need your savings and want to see how much you need to save regularly?

It depends which way round you are approaching the purpose of your savings. Maybe you know how much your total needs to be and you want to know how long it will take to save that amount, based on your current situation. Or perhaps you have a deadline to reach a certain figure and so the calculator will work out how much you need to regularly put by.
