Carols by Candlelight and Tax Rebate Services

Tax Rebate Services has sponsored two NSPCC carols by candelight events in December this year. TRS has been supporting the NSPCC for many years and were kindly asked by them to sponsor two of their carols by candelight evenings.

Our aim is to help the NSPCC answer every call from children who need support at Christmas.

The events we sponsored were held at:

Date:    Monday 12th December

Venue:  St Michael’s and All Angles Church Macclesfield

Date:    Friday 9th December

Venue:  St Michaels Church Crewe

We hope everyone at St Michael’s and All Angels Macclesfield and St Michaels Crewe had a great night.

How the money raised will support the local services provided by the NSPCC.

£4 could pay for a child to speak to ChildLine.

£25 could pay for a dolls house which children use during counselling sessions to explain how they are feeling.

£42 could pay for a child or young person, who may have nowhere else to turn, to receive one-to-one counselling through ChildLine on the phone or online about any issue that’s important to them.

£150 could pay for us to answer 30 calls from adults and parents who phone the NSPCC helpline when they are worried about a child.

£400 could cover the cost for the NSPCC Schools Service to talk to one classroom of primary school children about abuse and where they can find help if they ever need it.

£800 could pay for a practitioner to work for one week with families through our Family Environment: Drug Using Parents service at our local project.

FEDUP is an NSPCC service to protect children who live with a parent who misuses drugs or alcohol.

£1600 could recruit and train a volunteer ChildLine counsellor, who in their first year will be able to help up to 250 children through their worries and distress.

£2800 could help us to recruit, train and support a volunteer for their first year with the Schools Service.

£4,000 could provide one-to-one therapy for a child for a year to help them overcome the effects of sexual abuse.

The NSPCC receives one call every 25 seconds and each call costs £4.00 meaning events like carols by candlelight are really important in raising much needed funds.
